England Boss Gareth Southgate Has Been Linked With The Vacant Managers Position At Manchester United Following The Clubs Poor Start To The Season

Southgate linked with Man Utd as pressure mounts on Solskjaer

England boss Gareth Southgate has been linked with the vacant manager's position at Manchester United following the club's poor start to the season.

Southgate, who has led England to the semi-finals of the World Cup and the final of the European Championship, is said to be one of the favourites to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

United have won just one of their last five Premier League games and are currently eighth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.

Solskjaer has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with some fans calling for him to be sacked.

Southgate, who has a contract with the Football Association until 2024, has refused to rule out the possibility of taking over at United.

"I think I've made it clear that I'm committed to England," Southgate said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"But I also understand that in football, things can change very quickly."

If Southgate were to leave England, it would be a major blow to the Football Association, which is hoping to build on the progress made under his leadership.

However, the lure of managing Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, could be too strong for Southgate to resist.
